Here is a list of the artists that have more than 20 years between
the first and last entry in the charts. Beware that this table tracks the name
of the artist, so multiple artists with the same name (like Jimmie Rodgers)
will be listed with their total length of career, see the individual artist's pages
for details. The
"most hits" page
shows the same information but ordered by the number of hits each artist has.

Bill Monroe
I'm surprised that Bill Monroe isn't on this list; he started recording in1936 and recorded until 1994.
This lists the longest periods in the charts, not how long they were active. Bill Monroe's first hit was "Mule Skinner Blues" in 1940, his last was "Blue Moon of Kentucky" in 1947. A seven year chart career is nowhere near long enough to get into the list

Ronnie james dio+
Lead singer of Elf, rainbow ,dio, black sabbath and heaven and hell and didtons of solo projects started recorded his 1st album in 1957 which was released in 1958 and he ended his career with the release of the rods single in 2011 metal will never die .thats a real 54 year of new material. Also a ton of this list is very in accurate, unless ur counting +releases and remixes like on some of these older artists.

Oasis
First single was Supersonic in 1994. If the last hit was 2010, that's only 16years.
Yes, that looks like a mistake

Rod Stewart
this Rock Star's career has spanned 55 years his name must be on your list thank you
1) It is. 2) Since his first solo 'hit' was "An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down" which John Peel rated as the best song of 1970, and his last was "Have you ever seen the rain" in 2006 (in Belgium) his career is 46 years.

Enrico Caruso 1999???
Enrico Carusos career laster until 1999 He died in 1926 So much for this lists credibility
Plenty of people have hits after they are dead, sometimes dying is a really good career move

Mylène Farmer
Mylène Farmer should be added to this! First LP Cendres de Lune 1986 most recent Interstellaires 2015!
You misunderstand. This list is not edited it is generated, from the data. We can't just add an entry, the source data has to support it.
Mylene Farmer's first hit (in the available data) was "Ainsi Soit-Je" in 1988, "Cendres De Lune" was not a hit until 1989. the last hit album we have was "No. 5 On Tour" in 1989. So she has a career of 21 years. However, the other criteria is that to be in this list the artist must either be in the top 1000 song or album artists, she is well outside that.

This list sucks
Nirvana hasn't been around s once the 60s, they started in 1989 and broke upin 93' after Kurt cobain killed himself you stupid assholes
No, the band Nirvana was formed in 1965 and had a hit with "Pentecost Hotel". You could of just clicked on the name to find the details and not sent the insult, but obviously you are the type of American that doesn't do that

Missing
The Backstreet Boys...
Are you claiming that The Backstreet Boys have a career longer than 20 years?
Their first hit was 1996, when they have a hit in 2016 (and it is listed on this site) then they might show up on this page

not quite right
when the top entry, enrico caruso, died well before the end of his recording career, it definitely raises a red flag. also, that is not the only incorrect end of an artists recording career in this list. dunno what the deal is but it ain't right.
tim
This site lists hits in the charts, artists can have hits after they die (indeed for some, like Elvis and Michael Jackson death was a good career move)
Some artists (like Freddie Mercury, John Lennon and Nat King Cole) released new records after they died. Your claim that this is in some way "incorrect" shows your lack of understanding.
