# 22 Bee Gees
The song title appears to be "How can you mend a broken heart", rather than "how do you mend a broken heart"
Love your site. As a millenial whose parents did not listen to music fromtheir time, I've been using this to go back and listen to all the top songs in each year.
Thank you so much for all your work here.
Thank You

is this the way to amarillo
the 2005 version credited to Tony Christie ft. Peter Kay selling 1.2 millionrecords in the UK is actually identical to the 1971 version since the original record was used for charity. Does the 1971 record get credit for the 2005 chart performance (except for Poland)?
This is a hard case. As you say it could be argued that the fact both are the same audio makes it a re-release. However the difference in release date and the fact that the 2005 version also entered the Billboard chart tends towards treating it as though it is a version "featuring Peter Kay".

#6 - Isaac Hayes - Theme From Shaft
The chart entry Library of Congress should be removed from this single and transfer to the Shaft Album (currently #28 in 1971).
We have our doubts, but we'll assume you know what you are talking about. That's been done

Mercy Mercy Me
What I really meant was that Marvin Gaye did not record those two songs as a medley; Robert Palmer did so, two decades later.
You are correct, the data has been fixed. Thanks for being persistent

Mercy Mercy Me
Marvin Gaye's ''I Want You'' was from 1976, was it not?
The year listed here is the year it was a hit (not the year it was released). Since it was a hit in 1976 for 7 of the 8 charts it is in we count it as a 1976 song.
There are two reasons we list songs that way, first because it makes more sense to match the song with the year that "most people" became aware of it. Secondly given the data we have access to (which does not include long lists of when songs were actually released) it would be hard to do anything else.

Jeremiah was a bullfrog
Where is "Jeremiah was a bullfrog"?
The song "Joy to the World" by Three Dog Night is popularly (but incorrectly) known as "Jeremiah was a bullfrog" from its first three words
