(3) Double Listings...Plus

#86 & #99 are the same (Asaf Avidan - One Day/Reckoning Song). Also #88 & #93 (Calvin Harris w/Ne-Yo - Let's Go). And #94 & #98 - Cher Lloyd w/Astro - Want U Back). Plus #92 - Skrillex w/Sirah - (Bangarang) also made the Billboard Charts - #72 - 20 weeks). Probably listed under just 'Skrillex'.

Missing Billboard Data

I know that since you have your companion site 'chart2000.com' you are not asinterested in these lists. But since you seem to have more than 90% of the Billboard data input I thought I would help fill in some gaps on missing data. The following (6) recordings all made the Billboard charts. These all seem to be Duets so maybe you have these listed under just an individual artist. #18 - Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen - Good Time - 8 - 24 weeks. #23 - The Script & will.i.am - Hall Of Fame - 25 - 25 weeks. #36 - David Guetta & Sia - Titanium - 7 - 33 weeks. #56 - Olly Murs & Rizzle Kicks - 96 - 2 weeks. #85 - K'Naan & Nelly Furtado - Is Anybody Out There? - 92 - 2 weeks. And finally #86 - Labrinth & Emeli Sande - Beneath Your Beautiful - 34 - 14 weeks.

Those have all been fixed, thanks

UK Chart Singles

Was disappointed you couldn't use 'polyhex.com' to update current UK Chartdata. Was hoping you could make that work. Of course when you talk about pdf files & protected sites & scanning, I am clueless. But I haven't given up yet. What about a website called 'officialcharts.com? Click on 'archive', then 'end of year (singles or albums), then you can change the date to any year e.g. 2011 thru 2016. It gives you the Top 100 Songs for that year. You still have to click on each individual song to get the peak position & weeks on chart & weeks at number one. Any chance you could use this?

The algorithm that this site uses has some limitations when it comes to recent charts (the large number of available charts mean that results depend more on the selction applied).

The best way to deal with charts since the year 2000 would be to collect the "national" charts for the largest music markets and analyse those on a daily basis (generating a "top 10" for every day) and then use the output of that to work out the biggest artists, songs and albums for each day month and year and for the whole period covered.

Your prompting has caused us to start doing exactly that. At the site http://chart2000.com you will be able to see the result. At the moment we're still tinkering with the processing, so there are quite a few "duplicate" entries (you know "Let It Snow" v "Let It Snow!" v "Let It Snow (EP)" and there is no explination of what we are doing.

Eventaully we'd like to have that site be reliable data for the years after 2000 and tsort.info stop at about 2010. Something like that anyway.

UK Chart Singles

I notice you still don't have any UK Chart data for Singles from 2012 - thepresent. I feel this is a crime since the UK is one of the (3) or (4) biggest music markets in the world and also your home country! Per my e-mail dated 20 Apr 2015 please take another look at the website 'polyhex.com'. Couldn't you enter the top 100 - 150 Artists for each of the current years & input the data based on that? It would certainly shake up these current listings dramatically and also make them a lot more accurate than they currently are. Am interested in your response.

We've taken another more detailed look at the polyhex.com site. Just as we found last time the data on that site remains unusable. The only downloadable versions are in pdf files that are both protected and can't be easily scanned.

So we can't use that source, but there is a more fundamental issue. Our approach of consolidating a very wide variety of source charts by year is really effective for "historical" music (when there has been enough time for a wide variety of contributors to each add their own opinion). With songs from before the 1950s this is pretty much the only possible way to do it (as far as we can see).

For more recent music we feel that this approach is really not all that good, first it is hard to find reliable sources and secondly the fact that we consolidate to the year is a bit course.

A much better approach (for charts after, lets say the year 2000) would be to collect weekly positions from the "best charts" from each country and combine them on a daily basis to list the world's charts for each day. That way the results could be combined to provide monthly (and yearly) charts without having to rely on "other information" (such as Oscars, Grammy Hall of Fame entries etc, etc)

The results we have after about 2010 are just not reliable enough, maybe the best option is to create a new site that works as described above, then we can take the post 2010 results off this site. Anyone want to help?

Young Wild Free

The song Young Wild Free (no. 57) lists an artist named "Bruno" as one of the three acts for the song. I am almost positive that this refers to Bruno Mars, who has a listing on this website. Would it be possible to change the name to Bruno Mars?

UK Singles Charts

Since the UK Chartarchive website only goes thru late 2012, are you aware of awebsite called polyhex? It gives UK singles data from 1952 thru current (2015). Google polyhex.com then click on singles 1952-2015. It seems like you have to enter each individual artist to get the data; so I'm not sure if you can use this or not. Maybe there is a way around that. Would be interested in your thoughts on this. Thanks.

Thanks for that info. At first sight there seems no way to get all the information but we'll keep looking.
