Sadly, this wonderful original song by the Chords, an African-American vocalgroup from the Bronx, was covered by the Canadian vocal group the Crewcuts which buried the original in the charts. The latter-day Crewcuts, to their credit, have recognized this injustice and the Chords themselves have had a street in the Bronx named in their honor. "Sh-Boom" is recognized as a candidate for the very first Rock and Roll song
