The range of different data categories that a system deals with.

There is often a trade-off between the number of concepts that a system can handle and the volume of data available. One reason for thisis that time and resources can either be allocated to expanding the data model or to gathering data. However a more important way this occurs is through the fact that wide ranging data models are difficult to populate.
