This measure of Data Quality reflects the degree of self agreement the data posesses.

Data can be consistent, yet wrong

It might be thought that the term indicates a check that seperate data elements have the same value, for example that any album listed as being by a ceratin group is also listed as one of that group's albums. This is a useful aspect but by no means the most important.

It is best to also incorporate other checks like feasibility (for example is a location's height less than 100km). There are also many checks that combine these two approaches, for example is the total weight of a vehicle less than the combined weight of the engine and bodywork.
