This page lists the top songs of 1925 in the source charts. The way that the various charts are combined to reach this final list is described on the in the site generation page. Between 1920 and 1940 there are few available charts (at least that we can find). These results should be treated with some caution since, with few exceptions, they are based on fairly subjective charts and biased towards the USA.

That sounds OK. We've changed the one Golden Gate Orchestra entry to The California Ramblers, thanks 19 Mar 2016 Number one song on Oct. 7, 1925 What was the Number One song on October 7, 1925? +THANK YOU! I want to give a copy of it to my beloved husband as a gift! You will gladden both of our hearts! The charts for 1925 are nowhere near that specific. 14 Feb 2016 #79 - Associated Glee Clubs-Adeste Fideles This was also selected for Library Of Congress (NRR) in 2003. Correct Song Title is Adeste Fideles (not Fidelis), Data fixed, thanks 21 Aug 2014 Song #33 If You Knew Susie (Like I Know Susie) sung by Eddie Cantor Sounds convincing, thanks 3 Jun 2014 Ma Rainey #13 See See Rider Blues was also a Library of Congress Artifact (NRR). For some reason you have that data on your 1923 list (as #24). The system was failing to match "Gertrude 'Ma' Rainey" with "Ma Rainey". It has now been fixed, thanks for the suggestion The reason for the difference in year is beacuse the Library of Congress lists when it was recorded and the Grammy list is when it became a hit 18 Apr 2013 Vernon's aliases Here's some info to get you started: Columbia 15046D Al Craver (Vernon Dalhart) DREAM OF A MINER'S CHILD W141152 - - 1925/10/17 Andrew Jenkins Columbia 15049D Al Craver (Vernon Dalhart) Letter Edged In Black W141239 - - 1925/11/04 - Columbia 15044D Al Craver (Vernon Dalhart) LITTLE BIRDIE W141018 - - 1925/09/19 - Columbia 15031D Al Craver (Vernon Dalhart) LITTLE MARY PHAGAN 140628 - - 1925/05/27 - Columbia 15056D Al Craver (Vernon Dalhart) MY LITTLE HOME IN TENNESSEE W141312 - - 1925/11/24 - Columbia 15053D Al Craver (Vernon Dalhart) NAOMI WISE W141313 - - 1925/11/24 - Columbia 15034D Al Craver (Vernon Dalhart) ROVING GAMBLER W140656 - - 1925/06/06 - Columbia 15060D Al Craver (Vernon Dalhart) SENTENCED TO LIFE BEHIND THESE GREY WALLS W141311 - - 1925/11/24 - Columbia 15044D Al Craver (Vernon Dalhart) SINKING OF SUBMARINE S51 W141099 - - 1925/10/09 - Columbia 15046D Al Craver (Vernon Dalhart) THE CONVICT AND THE ROSE W141151 - - 1925/10/17 Betty Chapin Columbia 15031D Al Craver (Vernon Dalhart) The Death Of Floyd Collins 140627 - - 1925/05/27 Andrew Jenkins-Irene Spain Columbia 15256D Al Craver (Vernon Dalhart) THE SIDEWALKS OF NEW YORK(east side, west side) W140795 - - 1925/07/30 - Columbia 15034D Al Craver (Vernon Dalhart) The Wreck of the 1256 W140708 - - 1925/06/22 Carson Robison Columbia 15053D Al Craver (Vernon Dalhart) THOMAS E WATSON W141314 - - 1925/11/24 - Columbia 15056D Al Craver (Vernon Dalhart) UNKNOWN SOLDIERS GRAVE W141363 - - 1925/12/08 - Columbia 15049D Al Craver (Vernon Dalhart) ZEB TURNEY'S GAL W141240 - - 1925/11/04 Maggie Andrews;Lamkin Okeh 45090 Tobe Little (Vernon Dalhart) BARBARA ALLEN 80451 - - 1927/02/01 Vernon Dalhart Okeh 40532A Tobe Little (Vernon Dalhart) BEHIND THESE GREY WALLS 73826=A - S 1925/12/01 Carson Robison Okeh 40328 Tobe Little (Vernon Dalhart) CHAIN GANG SONG (vvd) 73222=A - S73222 1925/03/01 Guy Massey Okeh 40488 Tobe Little (Vernon Dalhart) DREAMS OF THE SOUTHLAND 73668 - S 1925/09/01 Andrew Jenkins Okeh 40568 Tobe Little (Vernon Dalhart) LITTLE MARY PHAGAN 74000=B - S 1926/02/01 - Okeh 40488 Tobe Little (Vernon Dalhart) Little Rosewood Casket 73669 - S 1925/09/01 SLOVER O.E. Vernon Dalhart used over 100 pseudonyms to record over 5,000 78 rpm singles; among the names he adopted were Frank Evans, Vernon Dale, Tobe Little, Bob White, Hugh Lattimer, Sid Turner, and Al Craver - often attributed to the Prisoner's Song. Interesting. We have some entries from Frank Evans but since they are from 1981 (and in Belgium) we're quite certain its not the same person. None of the other aliases occur in any of the charts we have. 4 Aug 2011 Dances from the 30s
